MIRIAM A. ROSS, ESQ. is a business attorney, business advocate, mediator and community leader with extensive experience in industry, business law and compliance.

Miriam is the recipient of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2012 Women in Business, Champion of the Year for New England and Rhode Island. She is also an Achievement Honoree, 2012 Business Women Awards sponsored by Providence Business News.

Miriam started her legal career as in-house corporate counsel for a manufacturer in the automotive industry in Ohio. She was recruited by a Fortune 500 company in Michigan, which was ultimately purchased by Textron Inc., where she served for many years as Corporate/Group Counsel providing advice and counsel on domestic and international business and commercial transactions, and business ethics and compliance. Miriam then joined GTECH Corporation as Assistant General Counsel and Director of Global Compliance where she managed the global compliance program, outside legal counsel in 83 jurisdictions, and was principal legal advisor for the Latin American region. During her tenure at GTECH, Miriam re-designed, implemented and managed a world-class corporate compliance program, including privacy issues, risk assessment and confidential investigations. Miriam also established the litigation management system, supervised counsel, and provided legal support to Human Resources on employee matters.

In 2004, Miriam established The Law Offices of Miriam Ross, an innovative, business-focused private law practice, providing creative and practical legal advice and business solutions to small and medium sized businesses, women and minorities. Miriam is the trusted legal advisor for a diverse client base working with businesses on day-to-day operational issues, as well as more complex matters, like contracts, commercial transactions, buy-sell agreements, licensing, regulatory compliance, employee matters and litigation. Miriam regularly represents clients in all stages of the business life cycle, both emerging and start-up companies, as well as more mature companies. Miriam provides advice and counsel on the full spectrum of legal needs to clients in a wide range of industries, including, small businesses, professional services, software, technology, wholesale food distribution and hospitality, manufacturing, retail, restaurants, entertainment, web design and development, and other service industries.

An active and involved leader in the community, Miriam is on the Continuing Legal Education and Business Organization Committees of the Rhode Island Bar Association. Miriam is one of seven chairs of the Rhode Island Small Business Economic Summit sponsored by U.S. Small Business Administration. She recently served as a member on the Economic Task Force for the City of Providence. Miriam also serves on the board and finance committees of a number of local non-profit organizations. She is a graduate of Leadership Rhode Island, Epsilon II. Miriam is a Certified Mediator, Community Mediation Center of Rhode Island. In addition, Miriam is an Adjunct Professor at Roger Williams University, School of Law, teaching business ethics/compliance and corporate governance, as well as election law and campaign finance.

Miriam received her B.A. at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and earned her J.D. at Cleveland State University, College of Law. Miriam is licensed to practice law in the states of Ohio, Michigan and Rhode Island. She is admitted to the U.S. District Court: District of Rhode Island and Northern District of Ohio.
